Huddersfield Experimental Short Film Screening
Callout for Submissions
Electric Spring, in association with the Centre for Research in New Music (CeReNeM), is announcing an open call for experimental short films at Electric Spring 2025.
We welcome short films with an experimental approach to any aspect of audio visual expression – visual, sound, narrative, genre, performance, theme... all approaches are encouraged for submission. Films selected by the jury will be screened at Electric Spring on the festivals 3.5m x 6.2m screen and utilise the Huddersfield Immersive Sound System (HISS).
Works should be submitted for consideration here via the form below by 31 December 2024. Chosen applicants notified by 22 January 2025.

- Films should ideally be shorter than 7 minutes. Films exceeding 10 minutes are unable to be considered.
- The first sift of applications will be decided based upon a nominated extract (1 minute) by the artist. Please indicate the starting point for this one minute extract in the submission form.
- Media links should connect to a video streaming service (YouTube, Vimeo, etc...). Links to file sharing service (WeTransfer, SwissTransfer, Google Drive, etc...) are unable to be considered.
- It is preferred that media links are not password protected.
- Limit 1 entry per person.

Entrance to Electric Spring is free, and concerts usually average an attendance of between 70 and 120 people. Attendance to the screening is self funded. Queries should be directed to Sam Gillies (s.gillies@hud.ac.uk). All queries should have 'HESFS' in the subject line.
